Caelen Strayfe hosted the five members of Lamentus, the third-generation English-language group at FIRST STAGE PRODUCTION, as they watched their own debut streams back in order on Saturday, ahead of the group’s first anniversary.

After a round of sound checks and introductions, in which Ash Cariel, Shiki Kagami and Elias Elborne each gave their names and personas, Caelen laid out the running order: Ash, Shiki, Lilo, himself and then Elias. Early on he asked the others to keep the jokes light, saying he would step in if anything in chat turned mean.

“Today we’re going to be reacting to our debuts one by one in debut order.” — Caelen Strayfe, opening the stream

Ash Cariel’s debut, built around the lore of a fallen angel, drew the most teasing over the slides he had written by hand. Shiki Kagami’s opened with a lore video about a spirit bound to serve and moved into a presentation aimed at people who might seek a contract with him. Lilo’s began with an animated intro that cast him as a wanted prisoner. Caelen’s own debut, in which he played a police officer and a German Shepherd, showed him switching between languages; he told the others he had been nervous and that it was around 3 a.m. for him at the time. Elias Elborne’s introduced a scientist who likes hamsters and horror, and included a cameo gag that set chat off.

Between segments the members swapped stories about the original streams, from first-week technical slip-ups to how their tastes in games had changed. One member lost power and then his internet partway through Elias’s segment and missed the end of the stream. Afterward the group agreed that watching the debuts was easier than they had expected, though none said they had enjoyed it, and they said they would not react to the group’s debut song, “Lament,” because of copyright.

The stream ended with a rundown of the anniversary merchandise, including acrylic stands, badges, connectable keychains, larger plush toys, a clear poster, a mini pouch, signed gacha-style cards and digital voice packs, set to go on sale in about eight hours. Caelen said no further merchandise runs had been planned, and the group went on to prepare for another collaboration stream later the same day.
