Poko Rakun Says She Is Unsure Where to Take Her Channel After Mimic Party Collab
After two hours of sound-mimicking games with three other streamers, the ChromaSHIFT talent spent the rest of the night talking through her doubts about retro gaming.
CHROMASHIFT — Poko Rakun of ChromaSHIFT said she is unsure which direction to take her channel, closing a three-hour stream that began as a collaboration with Ellie Minibot, Miniko Mew and Kirana Yonome. After the others left, she spent about 25 minutes telling viewers that retro games, the focus of her channel, have stopped being fun for her.
The group played Mimic Party, a Steam game in which players hear a sound clip once and then have one take to imitate it, with the closest match scoring the most points. The streamers switched off the game’s sabotage option early on, then played free-for-all rounds and, later, two-against-two team matches. They swapped voice packs through the night, from cat sounds and Halloween clips to Arab memes, anime lines and British accents, and often laughed through rounds that scored zero.
“I’m not saying I’m quitting it forever, but I really need to figure out a way to balance everything out now.” — Poko Rakun, on retro games
Once the room closed at about two hours, the guests stayed a while longer to talk about the game, studying and baking before leaving one by one. Poko Rakun then dropped the shared chat and said she had screamed a lot during the collab. She said she had not spoken with Ellie before and had enjoyed it, and that she liked Mimic Party better than Choice Voicer, a similar voice game.
She then turned to her channel. She said she wants to keep streaming for a long time but feels a stream built around one thing will not keep her happy, and that she felt anxious looking at retro games and does not feel good enough at them. She noted that a Cult of the Lamb boss that took her nearly five hours last year took 15 minutes this week, and said she had wanted October to be a Mario month but lost heart for it. She said she plans to talk with staff about a new direction.
Chat answered with encouragement. Poko Rakun said she will stream Minecraft the next day and play Minecraft and Cult of the Lamb this week, and that the waiting room for the Minecraft stream was already up.
