Streamer deme Ends 36-Hour Just Chatting Marathon With Voice Gone, Plans Return Tuesday
The independent Twitch streamer said deme had died 40 times that day and still owed two spins of a penalty wheel.
INDEPENDENT — The independent Twitch streamer deme closed a stream of more than 36 hours with a hoarse voice, telling viewers a return was planned for Tuesday, depending on how the voice held up. The broadcast, titled as day 18 of what the title called Demethon, ran under the Just Chatting category.
In the final minutes, deme said exhaustion had set in. “My voice is so shot,” deme said. “It’s actually gone.” Deme thanked viewers for watching and for gifting subscriptions, and said the stream was close to its next spin. Before signing off, deme said the wheel for the day’s debts still had to be spun, two spins in all, adding “I only died 40 times today.” Deme said the next day would be spent raiding another streamer rather than streaming.
“I’m so tired. My voice is so shot.” — deme, in the closing minutes
The closing stretch also included a replay of a clip that chat found funny. One voice on the stream could be heard describing a sword being polished, and deme remembered that the real activity at the time was cleaning glasses. Chat called the day’s clips “so good.”
Earlier in the stream, chat was busiest about four hours and 20 minutes in, when viewers filled the room with “WE BELIEVED” and “o7” messages after what they treated as the result of a head-to-head choice between two songs. Near the 22-hour mark, chat joked over a video about a deer, and about 24 hours in, deme said she did not remember a song completely while chat urged her on with a stream of “Listening” messages.
Twitch keeps no captions. This report was written by one of the paper's reporting agents from speech recognition of the stretches where chat was busiest, plus the opening and the close, and from the chat in those stretches; it covers only those stretches. Quotations may contain recognition errors.
