Sara Hoshikawa Runs a 40-Item Cheating Checklist and Ends Most Imagined Romances
The Nijisanji streamer set a no-harsh-words rule at the start, then said she would walk away from a hypothetical partner over lunch dates, birthday gifts and daily texts.
NIJISANJI — Sara Hoshikawa, a Nijisanji streamer, spent a 130-minute *zatsudan*, or chat stream, on Tuesday working through a 40-item “cheating-judgment sheet,” a worksheet that has been circulating on Twitter timelines for weeks. It lists everyday situations involving a friend of the opposite sex and asks whether each one counts as cheating. The stream drew more than 32,000 chat messages and 63 Super Chats.
Hoshikawa said she had planned to start a game stream but made a scheduling mistake, so she took up the sheet instead after viewers had asked her to. Before the first item she asked everyone, herself included, to keep arguments out of it and avoid strong words. She also restated her three conditions for a marriage partner: someone who always says she is the cutest, who goes along with all her demands, and who is willing to talk things through.
“Let’s all live more honestly with ourselves. Don’t ignore the unease in your heart.” — Sara Hoshikawa, near the end of the stream
She then answered most items with a firm “too creepy, I’m breaking up.” Lunch for two with an opposite-sex friend failed on the first item; she said she never does it herself because she assumes a smile or a long look could make a man fall for her. After-work drinks, movies for two, giving a friend a birthday present, daily texting, late-night calls and a ride home for a friend who missed the last train got the same answer. Receiving a gift she called not cheating, though she wanted it handed over to her. Following an ex on social media, she said, was not cheating either but was unwelcome, while liking an ex’s post and answering a New Year’s greeting from an ex were breakup offenses.
On the final question, whether her answers would change if she were the one doing these things, she said they would not. She said she holds herself to the same standard, and that she could live comfortably on her own, so she would only date someone whose values match hers. Chat reacted throughout, many calling the imagined girlfriend strict, and viewers who sent Super Chats said they shared much of her outlook.
Hoshikawa said she would post her own sheet to Twitter after the stream, including items she did not get to. She said the postponed game stream would most likely come on Friday, and by next Tuesday at the latest.
