Rikumu Settles on a 32-Block Height for an Inverted Pyramid Under a Minecraft Castle
The site measured 66 by 57 blocks, and a server dropout interrupted the first test build.
.LIVE — Rikumu used a Minecraft stream on Monday to plan a large inverted pyramid that will sit beneath a castle being built by several players on a survival server. The streamer measured the site, picked a height of 32 blocks and built part of one face as a demonstration.
The flat platform that the castle stands on has to look as if it rose out of the ground as a floating landmass, and the request for the underside had already been accepted. Rikumu first counted the platform out loud and found it was 66 blocks by 57, not a square. The streamer said a plain inverted pyramid of that size would need close to 100,000 blocks, and promised not to fill the inside. Rikumu said the middle would be invisible and that only the outer surface needed to look natural.

A pyramid generator the streamer found online topped out at 64 blocks, so Rikumu trimmed one ring off the perimeter to fit. Viewers and Rikumu then compared heights. A suggestion of 30 to 40 blocks was called manageable, and chat noted that 32, half the base, gives a 45-degree slope. Rikumu settled on 32 after looking at 40 and 30, saying it was less tall than 40 but looked easier to build.
Building the shell moved slowly. Rikumu complained about the scaffolding and, about an hour and 13 minutes in, said land leveling was the one job they could not bear to do for long. After a break for ice cream, Rikumu said the other castle builders would be asked to dig out the ground beneath the castle, and noted that a session with that group was set for Friday. Rikumu put up one partly finished face to show the scale and joked that it had taken about two hours. Soon afterward the server dropped the connection for a moment, which Rikumu said was the scariest outcome because progress can roll back.
Rikumu also ran through the coming week. There is a daytime collaboration stream on Thursday the 22nd, the castle session on Friday the 23rd, and a late-night moon-viewing chat stream that evening at 11 p.m., for which viewers were told to bring their own sweets or snacks and drinks.
