Varis Hemlock’s Dragon Hits Full Growth at the End of a Seven-Hour Minecraft Session
The dragon, Olivia, now has 1,116 health, twice a Warden’s, after the streamer spent the day on boss fights and a failed hunt for a quest item.
FIRST STAGE PRODUCTION — Varis Hemlock’s dragon, Olivia, reached its final growth stage late in a seven-hour Minecraft stream on Tuesday. The streamer, who plays in character as Harris in the #FSFables roleplay series, had stopped at a pig-farming island to collect bones and meat for the dragon, then called her out and took a first flight.
Olivia is now a stage-five dragon with 1,116 health, which Hemlock described as twice the health of a Warden. She breaks blocks as she flies, her breath freezes targets, she can swim, and the mobs he tried her on died instantly. He said he would probably carry her inside a horn item between flights. Asked whether he would look for a second baby dragon, he said he would rather see more players own one than keep two he could not ride at once.
“She breaks blocks now. She does in fact break blocks now.” — Varis Hemlock, on first flying the grown dragon
The growth came at the end of a day built around finishing chapter 4 of the server’s quest line. After an hour of sorting storage and a Nether trip with other players, Hemlock found and beat the Nameless Guardian, a boss in a deep dark structure, whose reward revealed that the next step meant fighting a Wither. He then summoned several with other players, including stronger elite and legendary variants, and collected quest items from them.
The next quest item proved harder. Locating a chapter 4 boss required an eye of mech, which can only be made with the Create mod’s machines. A fellow player ran the sequence of presses, deployers and lava for him, but the eye broke on the trip west before the target turned up. Hemlock left a waypoint and said he would ask for help rather than have every player learn the process.
The stream opened with about 45 minutes of conversation before the game started, in which he read through the 77 Super Chats and gave opinions on anime and chocolate. Viewers reacted to the dragon’s reveal as it happened, and several asked where she would be kept.
