Makoh Lisa Returns From a Cold With a Congested Singing Stream and a Running ‘Fleeting’ Joke
The ReAcT streamer sang for about 108 minutes, taking an encore request from chat after saying her voice was not yet back to normal.
REACT — Makoh Lisa of ReAcT (ccREVERBERATION) returned to streaming on Tuesday with a singing stream, her first broadcast in more than a week by her own account, and sang through a stuffy nose. She told viewers she had come home from a break of collaborations, recordings and a stay at her sister’s place, only to catch a cold that had not fully cleared. She said she planned a shorter session of around an hour and a half, and asked chat to flag any problems with the audio balance.
She opened with “Happy Synthesizer” and followed it with “Melancholic” before pausing to apologize for her voice, saying she had written “nasal voice” in the title area so that first-time viewers would not be put off. Later she took a request for a song to hype her up, said she could not sing it, and instead tried a run of songs prompted by chat’s talk of “fleeting” (hakanai) material, a joke that carried through the evening. She sang a Kaela Kimura song, “Butterfly,” then read its lyrics aloud and argued they were anything but fleeting.
“It’s been so long since my last stream that I’m all hyped up.” — Makoh Lisa, partway through the evening
Between songs she talked about spending Amazon Prime Day money on a drawing tablet after finding that the pen she had bought did not work with her iPad, and on an automatic trash can she called a big quality-of-life upgrade. She also joked that her paid ChatGPT subscription, which she nicknamed Kazuko, had mostly gone to fortune-telling. She sang “Nijiiro no Flugel” and then ran out of steam, saying she could not sing any more, and closed the regular set with “Merry-Go-Round.”
After chat filled with requests for an encore, she sang two more songs, “Watashi o Kanojo ni Shitainara” and a second piece she chose because its title caught her eye. She said a stream the next day was uncertain because of deadlines and preparations for her birthday, and that she hoped to hold a chat stream or another session in the coming days. The stream drew 843 chat messages and one Super Chat.
