Nerumero Hits the Pity Cap Three Times Pulling for New Wuthering Waves Character
She then built the character and cleared a Ruins stage with 5,520 points, just over her 5,500 target.
INDEPENDENT — Nerumero reached the guaranteed-drop cap three times in a row while pulling for Samei (鎖瞑), the new character in Wuthering Waves, on Thursday. After watching the character’s trailer, she pulled about 70 times on the limited banner and received Verina, a character she already owns several copies of, instead of Samei. After topping up her currency, a second run of about 70 pulls brought Samei, and the weapon banner then also ran to roughly 70 pulls. She called it her first “triple pity” in the game.
She spent the next stretch building the character. Nerumero raised Samei and the weapon to level 90, equipped a sunglasses accessory she said gave the character the look of a Chinese mafia boss, and read through the skill descriptions. Her reading was that Samei fights mainly with basic attacks in umbrella form, can be used as a main attacker, or can serve as a sub-attacker that hands off to the recently released character 心様 after granting a lightning-damage buff. She noted that the weapon appeared less essential than 心様’s, since the character supplies a large lightning bonus of her own.
“She can go as a main attacker, she can go as a sub-attacker. I’m very happy with her so far.” — Nerumero, after testing the new character
In a tower trial with a budget-level echo setup, Nerumero said basic attacks hit for 20,000 to 50,000 damage, and in the Ruins mode she cleared a stage with 5,520 points against a 5,500 target. She said she liked characters whose basic attacks carry the damage, because they are convenient for exploration. She also observed that the team leaves little room to swap characters mid-fight.
The session also had technical trouble. After she reinstalled the game at a higher graphics tier and switched to the highest-quality upscaling option, she said her PC was running hot. Later, the game’s music turned abnormally loud after a battle, a bug she said she meets often, and the game would not relaunch until she closed a leftover background Unreal Engine process.
Nerumero started the stream early to make Wuthering Waves’ official special program, which began at 8 p.m. Japan time. Before it, she opened packs from a new Wuthering Waves trading card set that had reached her a month late, then mirrored the broadcast, which featured voice actors and a demonstration of Samei. She came back afterward to open a seventh box in all, pulling star-3 action cards she had wanted but no top-rarity card, and said the starter decks that arrived with the order would let her play at last. She said she would stream the Genshin Impact preview program on Friday and plan weekend streams.
