Tokiwa Kaname Goes From ‘I Can’t Do Anything’ to Wins in Kagami no Majoritia Card Duels
After telling an opponent she could not make a match of it, the streamer rebuilt her deck, worked out a hidden win condition and went on to take later duels.
BRAVE GROUP — Tokiwa Kaname of ppPalette Project spent most of a stream that began Wednesday learning the rules of Kagami no Majoritia (Mirror Majoritia), a story game that mixes a card game with a language-decoding puzzle. In part three she went from fumbling her early duels to winning several, one of them by brute force.
The stream opened with a chat about a reported security flaw in the programming language PHP that had set off emergency maintenance at many websites, which she said she barely understood. She began the game at about the eight-minute mark. Her first duel took roughly an hour to work out, and she leaned on a notebook of in-game terms that she kept filling in. When it ended she said she finally understood the opponent’s move.
“Sometimes things I was sure were impossible turned out to work, so I’ve decided not to trust anything. I’m trying everything once.” — Tokiwa Kaname, midway through a late duel
The low point came about an hour and a half in. Facing a stronger opponent, she apologized repeatedly and said she could do nothing and the match was not a contest. She then rebuilt her deck and won by pushing the opponent’s mana power past 99, where the counter rolled over to zero and counted as a loss for the opponent. In a later duel she held on, then won by pressing the attack at the end, and asked chat whether that was really the right way to play.
She lost the first game of another duel, reworked her deck over a long stretch of attempts and won at about 3:40. Chat cheered the wins and joked about the brute-force finish. She said she had thought of stopping for the night but expected to forget everything by the next session, and that her understanding had finally begun to catch up.
In the second half she talked about her upcoming solo live and then moved into a long chat about her younger sister’s recent birthday. Four Super Chats arrived during the stream, one of them a birthday message for the sister. She closed by suggesting the next session might bring the story close to its end.
