Cy Yu, Jowol, Bricky and Jabroni Mike Lose Points to a Profanity Filter
The four played a workplace-themed co-op game in which swearing was penalized.
INDEPENDENT — Cy Yu, an independent streamer on Twitch, spent a long collaboration stream with Jowol, Bricky and Jabroni Mike playing a co-op game that docks the team’s points for bad language. The session, titled “Getting Piped,” ran about three hours and 18 minutes.
Part of the stream was a showcase of games from the publisher Critical Reflex, which wound down shortly after the one-hour mark with credits rolling. One voice on the stream said the showcase had a lot of flashing colors, acknowledged that the stream was sponsored and said viewers would reasonably take such praise with a grain of salt.
Around the 1:40 mark, when chat was at its busiest, the group was deep into the game. The players traded office-style banter about performance reviews and workplace harassment, and one voice said the swearing was deliberate: “I’m not randomly saying these words. I’m trying to trigger the profanity filter.” The team also fought enemies, including one on a lawnmower, and struggled with a time limit.
Later stretches turned chaotic. Players were chased by figures one voice likened to Bonzi Buddy, climbed a building as it fell and used up their undos, leaving one teammate behind. Between rounds the talk drifted to voice acting, with Mike offering an Apu impression and a Homer Simpson attempt that a teammate said was not the Homer.
Near the end, one voice said the team had lost 500 points to penalties and joked that the sponsor would not have liked it. Before signing off, Cy Yu said a horror game or Kingdom Hearts might follow later that night.
