Axel Syrios Rebuilds His Baldur’s Gate 3 Party From Scratch and Pushes Into the Goblin Camp

After finding his old save underleveled and badly built, the streamer respecced the whole party and played on for more than three hours.

Axel Syrios of Hololive’s HOLOSTARS English -TEMPUS- picked up his long-dormant Baldur’s Gate 3 run in a stream of roughly three and a half hours, and spent much of it discovering how much of the game he had skipped. He opened by explaining that he keeps two save files, one played on stream and one played off stream with friends, and said he had last touched the stream save only about a year earlier even though it felt like two or three.

A look at the quest log showed few completed quests and a party that was weak for its stage. His warlock had been built with poor charisma, a stat the class relies on for Eldritch Blast, and the character’s skills did not match the build he uses with friends. Axel visited Withers, the NPC who allows respecs, and paid a small gold fee to redo the warlock. He chose the fiend patron and the pact of the chain, which gives him an imp familiar. He also remade his companions: Asterion became a thief rogue, Gale a long-range wizard with Shatter and Misty Step, and Shadowheart a life-domain cleric.

“I don’t know when the next episode’s going to be. Could be tomorrow. It could be a month out. It could be a year later.” — Axel Syrios, closing the stream

The rebuilt party then cleared the chapel crypt and a spider lair. A fight against a boss spider and its young went badly, with several characters downed, and ended with the party surviving on one hit point. Axel blamed the dice, joking that the game’s hit chances showed a government conspiracy. Later he recruited Karlach, whose former infernal colleagues showed up and were driven off in a fight, and brought the party into the goblin camp, where he met the devil Raphael and freed a captive druid.

He said he planned to stop after scouting the goblin camp for up to an hour because he needed to go to the gym, though the stream ran well past that. He ended it with the party at the goblin castle, saying the next session would be about saving the grove from the goblins, although he admitted he was tempted to kill every goblin first. He gave no date for the next Baldur’s Gate stream and said he would post his schedule once collaboration dates were settled.
