Aki Rosenthal Tames a Lumina in ARK After a Mistranslated Prompt Sends Her Swimming
The Hololive 1st Generation member failed the creature’s memorization minigame repeatedly before landing the tame with little time to spare.
HOLOLIVE — Aki Rosenthal tamed a Lumina, a fast-flying creature of light, in ARK on the Hololive ARK server, finishing the job about two hours into an overnight stream after several failed attempts at the creature’s on-screen minigame.
Taming a Lumina means shooting it down and then memorizing a string of button prompts shown on screen, a sequence that repeats over several stages. Rosenthal’s first try ended with her dying in the middle of it. “It’s a memorization game,” she said after her second attempt, adding that she had learned the opening prompt was a decoy. Chat spent the stretch calling out button sequences.
“Your name is Dive.” — Aki Rosenthal, to the newly tamed Lumina
A later stage cost her more. A prompt appeared in English, and she read a Japanese entry in the creature’s skill tree as an instruction to dive underwater. She swam toward the sea floor, died, and spent several minutes recovering her gear. Viewers told her the Japanese text was a mistranslation and that the move was a glide, not a dive. “It’s a trap,” she said.
On a later attempt she climbed first and then glided, which she said made the move easy, and the Lumina was tamed. She said she had made it just in time, because the creature’s nighttime window was closing. She named it Dive, after the move that had tripped her up. Chat sent congratulations, with 268 messages in that minute, and a few of the stream’s 16 Super Chats and Stickers also celebrated the tame.
The rest of the stream was housekeeping. She moved the group’s base into a new building, set up beds and lights, and paired Drakelings in an attempt to breed the two seasonal colors still missing. She ran short of safes because she lacked polymer. A forced server logout cut the session short around dawn, and she said the next outing would be about caves or taming.
