Nimi Nightmare Bitten by Zombie in Abiotic Factor, Then Dies of Thirst Before Turning

INDEPENDENT — Nimi Nightmare was bitten by a zombie late in an Abiotic Factor collaboration with Limealicious on Monday, then died of dehydration in the game before the infection could turn the character. A countdown timer appeared on screen as the character began vomiting. The two joked about it, and Nimi took off the suit so the transformation could be seen. The character’s skin turned green, then died of thirst, and no zombie followed.

The stream ran more than four and a half hours. Nimi opened alone with a bit about “Green Women Monday,” wondering aloud whether an outfit with no green on it betrayed the theme, then was joined by Limealicious about nine minutes in. Abiotic Factor is a survival-crafting game set in a research facility where experiments have gone wrong, and the pair spent the early hours in its Cascade Lab area. They fought robots, netted a rat-like creature and beat it with a blunt weapon to earn a backpack, traded silver and other materials for parts, and built a healing briefcase. Their two pets, Soda and Kovu, joined many of the fights.

Later they worked through a containment block, listening to scientists’ recordings and picking up a gravity cube that let them jump higher. A chasm blocked the way, so they built a wooden bridge over it. Past it, a door opened onto zombies, and a portal there led to a “portal world,” one of the alternate settings the game’s portals open onto. This one was a zombie-infested furniture store. They pressed a series of buttons around the building, then fought their way out past more zombies with couches, rugs, paintings, a shield and a sword in tow. Back at the facility they set up a new forward base with the furniture.

The stream’s running threat was Leyak, a creature that kept turning up around their base, once as Nimi woke from a nap. An X-ray tower they built caught Leyak near the end and left essence behind, bringing them to three of the four pieces they needed. They decided to wait for it to appear once more and pursue the next step next time.

Limealicious and Nimi said they would play again next week. Nimi said there would be no stream on Tuesday and that the next one would come on Wednesday.
