Akane Canna Looks Back on Starlight Tribute, Where She Debuted a New Song
The 774inc singer said she performed while still recovering from a week in bed with a cold and collapsed to her knees after her solo.
774INC — Akane Canna of 774inc spent most of a nearly four-hour stream on Wednesday looking back on Starlight Tribute, the two-day, three-performance live held Oct. 17 and 18, where she gave the first public performance of a new original song.
Canna said she appeared in the third performance, a solo-relay format that was new for 774inc. She had been laid up for a week beforehand and said her throat and nose had not fully recovered by showtime. She opened with a unit song, then took her solo turn, which began with “Red Line.” That version used a short new intro, made for live performance, that differs from the released recording. She said she had kept it secret so the live show could be its first use, and that it may return in future concerts and song streams.
“At a live show, the one who enjoys it the most wins.” — Akane Canna, on her voice cracking mid-song
Her second song was “Veil.” Canna said she had been anxious about singing it with a cold, and her voice cracked in places, which left her disappointed. She said she decided to enjoy the stage anyway. She also said she deliberately sang the song straight through at first, without her usual crowd-raising delivery, to set up the song that followed.
That song was the new one, which she described as a thank-you to viewers and the first time she had unveiled a new song in 3D. She said it comes from the same creator as “Veil,” works as a counterpart to it, and was performed in a live arrangement with an intro that will differ from the eventual release. She did not give a release date. After the solo she dropped to her knees, and she said she found a bruise at home. She also sang a four-person unit song that included a rap section with a fellow performer, and said she added harmony parts to the backing tracks herself.
She told viewers that a Blu-ray of the concert had been announced, a three-disc set with audio commentary and a 24-page booklet. The second half of the stream turned to her squishy-toy collection and a smartphone game. Her next stream is a countdown to her fifth anniversary, set for 11:30 p.m. on Friday.
