Sonny Brisko Plays Silent Hill: Townfall for Nearly Three Hours, Praising Its Interiors
The Nijisanji EN streamer said the game’s lived-in houses were the best part but called its controls and TV gadget a little clunky.
NIJISANJI — Sonny Brisko of Nijisanji EN spent nearly three hours on Tuesday playing Silent Hill: Townfall, saying the game’s detailed interiors made it the most rewarding part of the stream. Brisko described the controls and the game’s handheld television gadget as a little clunky, but said both worked well enough.
The stream began with a technical delay of about 12 minutes before Brisko greeted viewers and unpacked a package from Konami, which had supplied the game key. It held a tote bag, a pocket-sized television, a mouse pad, a wristband, keychains, stickers, a T-shirt and a PS5 disc. Brisko, who has not played the classic Silent Hill games but has played the newer entries, chose English audio to hear how the Scottish setting sounded. After a while Brisko said the lead character sounded more American than Scottish.
“I just love exploring these indoor environments.” — Sonny Brisko, on the game’s houses
Playing as Simon Odell in the harbor town of St. Amelia, Brisko explored empty streets, locked shops and a hotel, read the town’s history on a plaque, and worked through a series of puzzles, including a code hidden in a signal on the in-game television and a pharmacy puzzle solved with a scalpel. Brisko avoided most of the stealth-oriented enemies, took out one with a plank, and struggled for a stretch to work out how to equip the weapon. Partway through, Brisko asked viewers not to give away puzzle answers.
Around the three-hour mark, the game switched to a second character, Zoe, and Brisko stopped there. In wrapping up, Brisko praised the high-realism art, lighting and sense of nostalgia, and said the opening sequence felt like a movie but that gameplay should matter most. Brisko also floated theories about the story, guessing that Simon was a visitor who stayed at the hotel and that something terrible happened between him and Zoe.
Brisko said a Minecraft stream was planned for later that night, with the build inspired in part by the game’s asylum-like caged tunnel. A co-op horror collaboration with Vantic Crowbringer was set for Friday at 12:00 JST, and Brisko hoped to play more Silent Hill on Saturday. Brisko closed by asking chat what to eat for dinner and settled on curry. Chat answered the sign-off with the streamer’s usual “otsu” and sent nine Super Chats.
