Himemori Luna Clears Horror Game Hakuei University Building 0 in a Four-Hour Stream
Stepping in after a planned co-watch was postponed, the Hololive talent played through a campus ghost story that ends with a single, fixed bad ending.
HOLOLIVE — Himemori Luna of Hololive’s fourth generation, holoForce, played through the horror game Hakuei University Building 0 on Friday, finishing it in a stream of about four hours. She said a co-watch planned for the day had been postponed, so she switched to a horror game instead.
In the game she played a member of a struggling occult club on a university campus. The club president sent the character out to photograph spots for a ghost-story newspaper, first at a tunnel tied to a local legend and later at Building 0, the closed-off old main building, where there were 12 subjects to photograph. Luna finished the last of the 12 about an hour and 56 minutes in, then braced for a scare she was sure was coming.
“The ending wasn’t that scary, which was good. I thought it would be scarier. No, it was scary. The atmosphere was scary.” — Himemori Luna, after the credits
The game ran heavily for her early on. The character on screen began moving by itself, and after lowering the graphics settings she swapped her avatar for a still image, after which the game ran more smoothly. In the second half of the story a clubmate, Hayashida, phoned from the rooftop asking for help. Luna joked that she would rather leave him there, then went back in, re-sealed the talismans posted around the building while a ghost that could pass through walls stalked her, and hit a game over before she got through. By the end she was telling the ghost she was no longer afraid.
The story closed with the character attacked after Hayashida had peeled a talisman off, followed by a news report of two missing students. Luna learned the game has one fixed ending and no branching, and blamed Hayashida for it. Chat was busiest at that point in the stream, with the foreshadowing about Hayashida drawing cheers and jokes. The stream drew 15 Super Chats, many of them congratulating her on the clear.
She spent the rest of the stream in a chat segment, reading viewer messages and talking about a day trip to a theme park the day before. She said she would be back at 8 p.m. Japan time the next day, with a collaboration planned.
