Mikage Begins Final Fantasy Type-0 on Keyboard After Controller Fails to Connect
The streamer fought through a punishing early battle with mouse and keyboard and closed the night planning to sort out her controller settings.
RK MUSIC — Mikage, a talent with RK Music, started Final Fantasy Type-0 on Saturday in a stream that ran a little over two hours. The game was new to her, and she said she had been curious about it because so many viewers had been recommending it. She picked the easier difficulty, explaining that action games are not her strength.
A PS5 controller would not connect to the game, so she played with mouse and keyboard, and much of the first hour went to the key configuration screen. She read the tutorials aloud and said she could not retain the many commands. Early on she also muted the game when a piece of its music seemed unsafe to stream, then spent a few minutes adjusting volume levels while chat said sound was still leaking through.
“As long as I beat it, that’s fine. Right?” — Mikage, after the hard fight
The hardest stretch came after an Odin summon appeared on screen. Mikage joked that the figure looked like *oden*, the Japanese stew, a joke chat picked up. A long run of deaths and retries followed. She said she could not tell what was happening with the camera so close, felt motion sick and had trouble dodging. When the fight finally ended she said she had barely noticed how it finished, and she took the reward in stride: as long as she won, that was enough.
She went on through the story scenes to the academy, where she praised a Moogle character as cute, then wrapped up at about the two-hour mark. Mikage said the battles were very hard and that she was still a little dizzy, but the game was manageable once a fight was over. Chat told her the controller can be made to work with some setup, and she said she hoped to play again next week after trying the controller settings.
The stream drew four Super Chats.
