Sir Arver Returns to FS Fables on Day 13 as Saeir Alarie’s Party Stalls Short of Chapter 4
The 11-hour stream ended without the chapter 4 push promised in its title, after boss fights, the retirement of an old axe and a haul of skulk shriekers.
FIRST STAGE PRODUCTION — Sir Arver, a character who had left the FS Fables server, turned up again on Day 13 of the Minecraft roleplay event, and Saeir Alarie spent the later part of an 11-hour stream on Thursday questing with him. Arver said in character that he had gone to sea, been attacked by Vikings and found a way to both heaven and hell, then joined a party formed for the occasion.
Saeir gave Arver a set of diamond armor and led the group to a hidden cave holding a forest and glowing crystals. The party then fought through a crypt dungeon and climbed to take on a cloud boss. Afterward Saeir called the return a total surprise, saying Arver had teased a comeback on Twitter.
“He finally did it and I really enjoyed it. So, it was really nice to talk to him again.” — Saeir Alarie, on Sir Arver’s return
The chapter 4 push named in the stream’s title never got going. Saeir spent the middle of the broadcast catching up on chapter 3 quests with another adventurer, clearing Nether dungeons and then taking on the boss Ignis at the burning altar. Saeir’s shapeshifting ability kept failing mid-fight and armor broke repeatedly. With help from a third player the boss went down, but the quest still asked for an item that never dropped, and Saeir said the group might ask another player for help.
Earlier in the night, Saeir retired the axe that had served since the start of the adventure, hanging it on the wall with a sign reading “Rip axe. You will be missed.” Chat answered with tributes to “our precious axe.” Later, after a raid on an ancient city, Saeir gathered skulk shriekers and sensors and set some up near town as harmless noisemakers for Halloween, joking that the place was now a haunted mansion. One shrieker summoned an elite warden, and Saeir backed away.
Saeir closed by saying the group had made no real progress in the story and would carry on the next day. An adults-only *zatsudan*, or chat stream, was planned for two hours later. The stream drew more than 8,000 chat messages and 13 Super Chats.
