Hyakuto Kyoko played through Fears to Fathom - Woodbury Getaway, the fifth episode of the indie horror series, in an English-language stream on Saturday. Afterward she said she plans to send a scary story of her own to the developers, who invite players to submit theirs, in the hope it becomes a game.

Kyoko played Sydney Harper, a worker who books a rental cabin in Vermont for a weekend with her coworker Mike and her friend Nora. Her stretch of the evening included picking the cabin on a booking site, ordering pizza at a roadside restaurant and taking the wheel in the snow, which she admitted she cannot do in real life because she has no driver’s license. Finding the right address took her a long time, and she knocked on the door of at least one wrong house along the way.

“I want my story to be a horror game. That is one of my dream.” — Hyakuto Kyoko, on sending a story to the developers

The game’s quieter stretches drew some of her happiest reactions. She fished for carp at the creek behind the cabin, boasting that she was a fishing master and then pulling in bluegill after bluegill before landing three carp. Mike cooked the catch, and the two played the board game Tower Stack while it baked. She was less charmed by Mike himself, whose advances she called uncomfortable, and she said she hated the character even though he later went to rescue her friend.

Then the cabin turned dangerous. A man pounded on the door in the night, and later a figure who passed himself off as the homeowner, Rick, came in carrying a hammer. Kyoko ran and hid through the basement, attic and upstairs deck over several tries, narrowly missing escape at one point, before settling in with a cat she had found in the attic. The real Rick called the police, and the group got a full refund.

Kyoko said she liked that the series now lets players fish and play board games, and that it is evolving. She noted that every episode so far is set in the United States and said she would love to see a Japanese setting. She said she has a scary story and will write it up for the developers but would not give any details. She then read through the Super Chats, answering questions about her favorite games and anime and her two cats, Polly and Sylvio, and assuring viewers named Mike that she hated only the character. She closed by saying she would be on a senpai’s channel the next day for a board-game collab starting an hour earlier than her usual time, and would return Monday, probably with Cuphead.
