Kaisei Ends DinoBones Stream Early After Earthquake Strikes Aichi
The Nijisanji streamer had spent about two hours reassembling dinosaur skeletons, and signed off to urge viewers to stay safe.
NIJISANJI — Kaisei of Nijisanji (3SKM) closed his stream about two hours in on Saturday night after an earthquake hit Aichi Prefecture, which he read out as intensity 5 on Japan’s scale. He said he had felt it too, told viewers who might be near the epicenter to close the broadcast and follow earthquake information, and ended the stream there. After checking, he said a tsunami did not seem to be a concern, but reminded viewers in prefectures facing the sea to be careful.
Until then he had been playing DinoBones: Tidy Up the Museum, a Steam “work game” in which the player puts roughly 2,000 bones scattered around a museum back into the skeletons of dinosaurs and mammoths. He said he chose it as a break after a week spent heavily on Splatoon. He had played in a Splatoon tournament earlier that day and fell just short of advancing to the next day’s main event, and he said he wanted to start fresh from this stream.
“Everyone, let’s play the dinosaur bones again. Please, really, take care.” — Kaisei, signing off
He picked the easy, relaxed setting, adjusted the camera and sensitivity, and worked through the museum’s crates, matching bones to places on the skeletons. Early on he finished his first dinosaur, and around the one-hour mark he unlocked the monocle, which shows bones through walls. Over the evening he talked about his old day-labor job behind the scenes at a museum, the dream of a dinosaur dig, and the manga Bleach. He also said he planned to try shooting a vlog, though he was not sure it could be made public and kept its destination a secret.
The soothing background music made him drowsy, and he said chill games tend to do that to him even though Splatoon never does. He stepped away and came back with a Red Bull he had set aside for the next day’s Splatoon tournament, and the pace picked up. Near the 1 hour 44 minute mark he finished a Spinosaurus, and he went on to find a hidden set of figures and a bonus pack before the earthquake interrupted.
Chat welcomed the relaxed pace, joked that the music was trying to put him to sleep, and cheered his Red Bull. There were two Super Chats. When the quake hit, viewers urged him and each other to stay safe. He said he hoped to return to DinoBones with everyone another time.
