Dokibird Gets Rem Coaching From a Top Player on a Surprise Sunday Stream
The streamer gave up a rest day for a three-hour coaching session with Obikym, whom she called one of the best Rem players in the world.
INDEPENDENT — Dokibird, an independent streamer with the WCThe Wildcard Club, spent a surprise Sunday stream getting coached on the Deadlock hero Rem by Obikym, whom she called one of the best Rem players in the world, a week before a four-day Deadlock tournament she is entering.
She opened by saying she does not normally stream on Sundays but wanted the coaching as soon as possible, and that she had given up a rest day for it. She also told viewers about a fire alarm earlier that day, which turned out to be a drill. She said she waited in bed for a few minutes to see whether it was real, and urged viewers not to follow her example. Before the coach joined, she said she was worried that Rem, her main hero, would be banned in tournament games and that she might have to learn others, such as Baba. She added that rival teams should not want to force her off Rem, because she plays other heroes well.
“I am not a REM one trick.” — Dokibird, addressing rival teams that might be scouting her
The lesson began at about the 20-minute mark with theory. The coach went through how to spend ability points, why cooldowns are a player’s only resource in a game with no mana, how to use an ability on creeps to shorten another cooldown, routes for breaking boxes around the map, and movement techniques such as air dashes and mantle jumps. He also reviewed a replay of one of his own games. Dokibird loaded his build into the game and said she had not read some of its items before; after he pointed out how Arcane Surge boosts her healing, she told viewers: “This is what happens when you read items.”
She then played on the new build with him talking her through it. She lost the first game, which she called “just warm up,” and said the new casting setup and the volume of information had slowed her down. In a ranked game that followed, her team won, and chat answered with applause. She asked the coach whether he was proud of her.
At the close she thanked Obikym, said she hoped for another session, and asked viewers to check out his channel. She then signed off for a team meeting that she said she would not stream. Viewers sent 13 Super Chats during the broadcast.
