Coco Jester Spends Culture Day Chatting as a Supermarket Item for Sale
The 774inc streamer opened a 111-minute chat stream packed up like a product, then moved from school festivals to Muji room spray.
774INC — Coco Jester of 774inc (Nanashiinku) opened a 111-minute *zatsudan*, or chat stream, on Culture Day, Nov. 3, as an item on a supermarket shelf. Greeting viewers from inside a pack, Coco Jester said the price had been set low enough to be easy to pick up, and noted that only a chat sticker had been put on it so far, not a half-price one.
Viewers played along with 24 Super Chats worded as purchases, and chat joked about holding out for a 50% discount. Coco Jester argued that people loosen their purse strings on a holiday, then asked what anyone is supposed to do on Culture Day. The answer, Coco Jester decided, was to do something cultural, which led to school festivals. Coco Jester has never been to one because of time spent as a trainee, so chat supplied haunted houses, maid cafes and mazes.
“Culture is convenient, isn’t it? If you say it’s culture, everything gets forgiven.” — Coco Jester, on Culture Day
That prompted a story from Coco Jester’s middle school days, when swapping uniforms became a fad: a close friend’s boyfriend lent his school jacket to another girl, and the friend grabbed him by the collar in front of everyone. Coco Jester said it ended up being cheating, since he later dated the other girl, and chat split over whether lending a jacket counts. Later, the talk turned to Coco Jester’s home prefecture of Nagano, where Coco Jester said cash is rarely carried and Suica cards only recently became usable. Buses there still run on a local card called Kururu, which chat had never heard of.
Coco Jester read only a handful of Marshmallow questions, the anonymous question service viewers use to write in, and answered the first by confessing a current habit of eating *nori tama*, a rice seasoning, straight from the bag as a snack. Coco Jester also said staff had worried about the drinking, so the intake was down and the drinks were now lower in alcohol. Further answers covered an autumn-scented room mist from Muji that took visits to four stores to find, the singing-while-running drills from trainee days, a childhood dream of becoming a dancer that Coco Jester hopes to pursue once a 3D model arrives, and a phone cracked again on a trip to Disneyland.
Near the end Coco Jester read out the names of Super Chat senders, said a game is planned for the next day and that, if it ends early, there would be more chatting, and signed off by calling it a very cultural Culture Day.
