Ichihatsu Amayo Spins the Wheel for a Limited Scroll Prize and Talks Handmade Gifts

AKUTAGAWA — Ichihatsu Amayo of Akutagawa-gumi held a late-night chat stream built around a prize drawing for a limited-edition hanging scroll, mixing the draw with a long talk about how to choose gifts.

Early on, Amayo described the bind of picking a present for a busy partner: a store-bought item the giver likes can seem insincere, while a handmade one takes time. Amayo said they were weighing a handmade gift for three people, and chat joined in with its own gift-giving habits, one viewer saying they simply send money.

Amayo then turned to the drawing on screen. Joking that a long wind-up only made the nerves worse, Amayo read out three entries, pressed the button and paused when a viewer’s donation alert floated up, thanking the donor before returning to the wheel. Handmade ideas kept coming: scented sachets, perfume, pipe-cleaner bouquets, and a fluid bear plush that chat noted has been popular lately. Amayo also recalled that a Taiwanese festival, the Dragon Boat Festival, is associated with making sachets. A slip of the tongue that briefly turned the plush into a “naked bear” set chat off.

Later, Amayo said they had felt suddenly unwell earlier in the day and had taken painkillers. Amayo urged viewers not to mistake the lift from staying awake all day for real energy, and said a workload that had eased a little would let them rest more soon.
