xxhacucoxx Gives Up on a Half-Translated Crab Game and Switches to Japanese, Clearing 11 Islands
The SquareLive streamer said the Japanese version turned out to be the key to enjoying the game, though she missed having friends to play with.
SQUARELIVE — xxhacucoxx of SquareLive spent a two-hour stream working out how to read a crab-themed action game, and ended the night saying it was fun once she switched to the Japanese version.
She opened the game, tagged Crab Game, by announcing she would play a crab game because crabs are tasty. Early on she opened chests and found one that needed three keys. She fought enemies she could not identify and said her English was limited to simple phrases. She joked that she did not know what she was playing.
“I think this game is actually really fun.” — xxhacucoxx, closing the stream
Later she tried a Chinese-language option and found that only some of the menu text was translated, which chat found funny. Because her computer was set to Japanese, she then downloaded the Japanese version and read the difficulty settings, upgrade chests and equipment in it. She chose an item she called cute and carried on from there.
Before the game, she chatted with viewers. She told a story about heating soup in the microwave without a cover: the chicken in a pineapple and bitter melon chicken soup burst out, and she was relieved not to have been burned. She added that the soup had no bitter-melon taste.
Closing the stream, she said she had slept from 9 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. and was sleepy again. She recapped the night: she chatted, opened the crab game, could not follow the English, found a half-translated Chinese version, switched to Japanese, and cleared 11 islands. She said the game was fun but lonely without friends. She said she expected to stream again around the same time the next day.
