Kitakoji Hisui Answers Letters on Cheating, Career Choices and a Student’s Wardrobe
In the 14th installment of her late-night “Snack Hisui” chat stream, the Nijisanji streamer ended by telling a letter-writer to buy a pair of black skinny pants.
NIJISANJI — Kitakoji Hisui of Nijisanji spent a 78-minute late-night chat stream reading and answering viewer letters, with advice that ranged from infidelity to career choices to men’s fashion. The stream, the 14th in her “Snack Hisui” series, was styled as a bar, and she opened by toasting viewers with a drink of her own.
The first letter came from a 24-year-old man whose girlfriend of six years had cheated for nearly two years and asked for another chance. He had agreed, but his trust was fading. Kitakoji told him that blame lies with the person who cheats, however lonely they were made to feel, and that such wounds spread slowly. “No matter how legitimate the reason, the one who does it is in the wrong,” she said, and she suggested he break up with the girlfriend.

A second letter asked whether a woman he had known for years was interested in him. Kitakoji said he had never acted on his feelings, and that a person who does not move cannot expect a sign of interest. She added that the writers of such letters tend to be young, and that people who ask the same question in their thirties or forties worry her. Later she took up a letter from a university student whose partner is a year ahead and bound to one hospital for five years after graduation. He asked whether to give up his own dream and move to her, or to pursue it and wait. Kitakoji said that if the relationship could not survive that, it had not been strong enough, and urged him to pursue his dream and to talk it over with his girlfriend. A husband married six years, whose wife had turned him down for two years, was told to take her on proper dates outside the house.
Between letters, she talked about the reality shows she had been watching, including the final episode of “Love Jotto,” which she said she had seen that day, and she recommended seasons two and three of Amazon’s “Love Transit.” She also deliberated aloud over where to go for an autumn outing, weighing Mount Takao, autumn foliage, hot springs and soba, after a viewer’s message mentioned plans for a wedding anniversary date.
The final letter was from a college student told that his face was fine but his clothes were not. After he sent in a photo, Kitakoji said his silhouette was too loose, his knit and pants clashed in color and style, and his top and bottom were equally baggy. Her advice was a single pair of black skinny pants from a budget shop such as Uniqlo or GU, worn with his cardigan open and tried on before buying. Chat sent eight Super Chats during the stream, which she closed by thanking regulars and saying she was getting sleepy.
