Shumulu Meifei Sings Whatever Backing Track Plays, Skipping Songs She Doesn’t Know

AKUTAGAWA — Shumulu Meifei, an Akutagawa talent, opened a late-night song stream on Wednesday with a rule: she would sing whatever backing track came up, and skip any song she could not sing. She said she was running a little late because she had been listening to a lecture.

Partway through the evening she sang a song whose lyrics mention a white dove, then stopped to ask how many times she was expected to repeat it. She insisted the last section had to be done again and went back to it. Chat joked that she could repeat it until tomorrow. Others suggested she switch to a different song, and she moved on to one she named as “Lei Qiao” (Tear Bridge).

Later in the stream, viewers from Samui Channel, run by Fuyukumo Rin, arrived in the chat, and the audience turned the stretch into a temple joke, welcoming the newcomers as pilgrims and trading remarks about merit and enlightenment. Meifei thanked a viewer for a Super Chat and moved on to the next backing track. At another point she agreed to sing only her own part of a song.

Closing the stream, she said her song streams run every Wednesday at 10 p.m. She said she would try to open a morning walking stream, and that if she did not, she had overslept. She asked viewers heading to another streamer’s ASMR stream to be careful not to startle anyone, and joked that there should be plenty to clip from the night.
