Shiina Yuika Runs a Pirate Restaurant With Luffy and Sanji in One Piece Grand Gourmet
In a blind playthrough that ran about four hours, the Nijisanji streamer named her own character, drew in familiar faces from the series and beat a rival restaurant twice.
NIJISANJI — Nijisanji’s Shiina Yuika spent about four hours on Friday building a restaurant on a ship in the mobile game One Piece Grand Gourmet, a collaboration with Kairosoft, playing it blind for the first time. Working alongside Luffy and Sanji, she took the restaurant from an empty deck to a crowded dining floor and won a cooking showdown against a rival that was posing as the Baratie.
The stream opened with the game’s character creator. Shiina tried several names, said she wanted a “D” in it in the manner of the series’ characters, and settled on Shiina D Fuku, a name chat connected to daifuku, the rice cake. Chat joined in with variations such as “Big D Shiina” and “Yuika C Ina.” In the story, she plays a new staff member of the Baratie, working with a talking robot bird named Tory; she remarked that the bird spoke more than her own character did. When it came time to name the restaurant, she chose a name that played on the series’ CP9 organization, and chat called it “Oda-level foreshadowing” and predicted fan-theory videos.
“Honestly, this place is way too uncomfortable.” — Shiina Yuika, as the dining area’s comfort rating stayed low
Most of the evening went to the management side: choosing a first dish, a pilaf, and renaming it after Sanji; setting menu combinations; and placing tables, a deck, a pool and rest rooms. She sent Luffy and Zoro out for ingredients and treasure, went to find Zoro when he got lost, and welcomed visitors from the series, including Coby, Buggy, Nami and Franky. A rival ship dumped trash toward the restaurant, and Shiina twice beat the rival’s cooks in a cooking contest, each time sending them running.
The harder stretches came late. She spent a long time trying to raise the comfort rating of a desert-themed area to draw in Crocodile, who finally arrived. A bean-sprout stir-fry came out badly until she added spices, which turned it around. By the end, a banquet had pushed the restaurant’s funds into the red, and she said she was ready to stop for the night.
Shiina closed by saying she hoped to start Persona sometime between noon and 3 p.m. the next day.
