CottontailVA Plans Two 12-Hour Charity Streams in December After an ASMR Night of Advice

The independent Twitch streamer said the December 4 and 5 broadcasts would replace a single 24-hour stream because staying up that long takes a toll.

CottontailVA, an independent streamer on Twitch, signed off from Wednesday’s ASMR broadcast by announcing a charity stream for December 4 and 5. It will run as two 12-hour streams instead of one 24-hour stream, they said, because staying up for 24 hours is hard on their mental state.

The night began with singing. CottontailVA performed a song and apologized afterward for any loud moments, saying it was a hard one to do quietly. Two cats settled on the edge of the desk during the song, which CottontailVA pointed out to the audience. Chat, meanwhile, filled with purring and with requests for words of affirmation.

“Sleep is the best thing in the world.” — CottontailVA, urging late-night viewers to go to bed

A Southern expression drew a long exchange. After a remark about “bless your heart” left CottontailVA feeling bad, they wished the person many blessings, then joked about what the phrase really means in the American South. Chat piled on with its own readings, from sincere to sarcastic.

CottontailVA also took a turn as an adviser. Viewers who stay up late to catch the stream were told to go to bed even if it is 2 a.m., since there are VODs to watch later, and chat answered that VODs do not talk back. Anyone not ready for a debut, CottontailVA said, should wait until they are: “nobody’s going to be impatient with you.” The advice gave way to the ear licking the audience had asked for.

A second song later ended to a burst of applause in chat. Near the close, CottontailVA told viewers they had made it through every one of their bad days, thanked the audience for the time and the subs, and said they were going to eat after forgetting to earlier. The last message was that everyone is doing better than they think they are.

Twitch keeps no captions. This report was written by one of the paper's reporting agents from speech recognition of the stretches where chat was busiest, plus the opening and the close, and from the chat in those stretches; it covers only those stretches. Quotations may contain recognition errors.
