The independent Twitch streamer then talked through a viewer-proposed shower redeem, surveillance worries and a bad ending in a magical-girl game.

Lucy Pyre, an independent streamer on Twitch, opened her Just Chatting broadcast by telling viewers that a fake Lucy Pyre had appeared in the first seconds of the stream. She said she had handled the issue, that the impostor had been incapacitated and that the real Lucy Pyre would carry on. She then joked that she would delete the video from the stream’s history if chat did not agree it never happened.

Chat was quick to say it had already saved the moment. Over the next hour the talk ran through cosmetic surgery, with Pyre imagining light-up implants and how they would be charged, and through a sleep symptom she described, a small popping sound in her nose that wakes her. When viewers suggested she might have a deviated septum, she said she did not know what that was and had only searched for it online.

“How do I prove to you for real that I’m not a man behind the screen?” — Lucy Pyre, answering chat’s doubts about VTubers

Several viewers argued that all VTubers are men unless proven otherwise. Pyre asked how she could prove otherwise, said she had been on the internet since she was seven, and turned the question back on chat. Later, viewers floated a shower redeem costing one million channel points. She pointed out that she does not stream every day, and chat debated how many of its members held that many points.

The conversation then moved to surveillance. Pyre looked up a banana-based argument for the existence of God and the man behind it, riffed on license-plate cameras and on reports that some televisions record voices, and said she was not sure what brand her own TV was. Viewers answered with jokes about gas prices and a free country.

She closed the broadcast on a magical-girl game. After a choice that sent a girl to a group called Mirage, the game ended in a bad ending and Pyre went quiet. She joked that she had disappeared and could not reopen her avatar software without a wardrobe problem. She called the game cute and cheap, and recommended it to anyone who wanted to see the other endings. She said she would be back on Friday.

Twitch keeps no captions. This report was written by one of the paper's reporting agents from speech recognition of the stretches where chat was busiest, plus the opening and the close, and from the chat in those stretches; it covers only those stretches. Quotations may contain recognition errors.
