Nekomata Okayu Unveils Pink Rock-Style Outfit, Her First New Look in a Year and a Half

HOLOLIVE — Nekomata Okayu of Hololive showed a new outfit on Monday, her first in about a year and a half. Built around pink, it pairs a sweet look with rock details: thick-soled boots hung with chains and spikes, a skirt rather than the trousers she usually wears, and what she counted as an astonishing number of belts.

The stream opened with a mailbag. Okayu said she planned to read 100 marshmallow messages, her version of a hundred-question drill, before the reveal, and she reached the 100th about 50 minutes in with a request to bring back her old rising-from-below “mogu-mogu Okayu” greeting. She then moved to another room and brought out the outfit from the feet up: the boots, torn stockings with a bandage on one thigh, a pom-pom cat charm at her waist, and nail tips shaped like her “Okanyan” cat mark, before a final full-body shot. She called the style “sweet rock.” Later she switched to a long-sleeved version with bare shoulders and a different hairstyle, and showed a pink tumbler she can hold.

Okayu said the pink came from designing the outfit as a matching pair with Inugami Korone. “I’m sure that if we hadn’t made them as a pair, it wouldn’t have turned pink,” she said, adding that the experience made her want to try other colors. The pair’s outfits are called “Okakoro Rock,” and Korone’s was due to be shown the next day.

Okayu also announced merchandise for the seventh anniversary of her activities: an acrylic panel, a holographic sticker set, a bowl and spoon set, a finger puppet, situation voice content and a full-set bonus. Sales run until Dec. 7. She said she had been rushing to finish the announcement on time.

Chat filled with messages of approval during the reveal and the merchandise segment, and the stream drew 55 Super Chats and Stickers. Okayu closed by saying she planned to use the outfit in games in the coming days, noting that it was only her second stream since returning from a month off.
