Komachi Panko of Phase Connect sang six songs in about 28 minutes on Wednesday as the second-to-last performer in a Halloween karaoke relay called Midnight Masquerade, closing with a slow, spooky cover of Nirvana’s “Where Did You Sleep Last Night.”

She opened with “Tonight You Belong to Me,” which she described as a creepy song, then moved on to “Villain” by K/DA and “Mad Hatter” by Melanie Martinez. After “Villain” she said it was the first time she had sung it, and when the response was quieter than she wanted, she joked that viewers were supposed to cheer for her. After “Mad Hatter,” she admitted that her hands were shaking. “I sing all the time on stream and now I’m nervous,” she said.

“Oh my god, first time in my life that I’m on time.” — Komachi Panko, at the end of her set

Next came “Heaven Knows” by The Pretty Reckless, a song she said not many viewers might know, and “All the Good Girls Go to Hell” by Billie Eilish, which she said she would sing in a whisper. She called the Billie Eilish song the obligatory one of the night. For the last song she teased viewers by starting to name Radiohead before landing on Nirvana, telling the audience she would find them.

Around the 19-minute mark she worried she was singing too fast and said she could simply add more songs, but she ended the set exactly on time. In her closing remarks she thanked the organizer of the relay and the person who made the thumbnails, thanked viewers for their Super Chats, and sent the audience on to the next performer, Riya.

Chat filled with applause for most of the set and swelled again at the end, with viewers calling for an encore. Five Super Chats came in during the stream, several of them praising her voice.
