Maylyn, a Thai-language streamer with Algorhythm Project, said during a late-night work stream on Saturday that she plans to publish her Halloween video at midnight as Oct. 31 begins. She called Halloween a special day. She added that she would have liked to make the video better, but that the deadline would not allow it.

The stream was a co-working session, in which a streamer works on her tasks while viewers keep her company. Maylyn opened by greeting viewers one by one and describing a day spent mostly asleep, with dinner and more sleep in between. She said she had finished some of this month’s recording work the night before and had two items left, and that she planned to slip into the Thai book fair at a quiet hour to browse.

“Work that’s finished but not good is better than work that’s good but not finished.” — Maylyn, recalling a saying about deadlines

Starting was the hard part. About 85 minutes in, she compared it to setting a first goal of simply putting on running shoes before a workout, and she settled on a small target of one chunk of work before 1:00 a.m. By her own count she had typed one line at about 87 minutes and five lines by about 95 minutes. Near the two-hour-15-minute mark she had around 10. Along the way she said she had ideas for another piece to release around Christmas but had not chosen among them.

Chat joined in on the pace of the work. One viewer wrote that typing a line meant she had started. After a viewer asked how she prepared for the JLPT N1 Japanese exam, she said she practiced with past papers and spent the most preparation time on grammar, which she said sits far from everyday speech. For reading, she said, she leaned on daily Japanese input such as novels and songs, and that the section is hard because it tests gist as well as language.

Maylyn ended the stream a little after two hours and 19 minutes, saying she would be back on Monday and would post details on Twitter.
