Juliana Shafira Stops Tenebris Somnia Unfinished After Getting Stuck on a Puzzle
She said the pixel-art horror game was good, then spent the last half hour of the stream talking about allergies, yoga and her fear of needles.
AKA VIRTUAL — Juliana Shafira ended her playthrough of the horror game Tenebris Somnia on Thursday without finishing it, after getting stuck on a puzzle she could not solve. She said the game was good but that she was stuck badly, and that she would like to watch another creator play through to the ending.
She had opened the stream by admitting she is not good with horror and had second thoughts about the game half an hour before going live. She considered switching to a free talk but decided to try it, saying she would wave at the camera if she could not take it. She said the game, which came out on the 26th, was given to her free by its developer in exchange for content, and that October seemed the right month for it. Before starting she chatted about an air-conditioner repairman who turned up hours late that morning.
“The game is good. I just got badly stuck.” — Juliana Shafira, as she quit the game
The game is a pixel-art horror in which the player searches an apartment building for a missing ex-boyfriend after a ritual goes wrong. She had expected 3D graphics and joked about the heroine sharing her first name. She was caught off guard by the first monster, died and had to repeat a section, and worked through a series of puzzles involving posters, a TV remote and batteries. She said puzzle games gave her a headache. Near the end she tried several guessed codes and chat’s directions, then quit, thanking the developer.
She stayed on for roughly another half hour of conversation. She said the repaired air conditioner left her cold and with a stomachache, that sunlight and heat aggravate her skin allergies, and that she lost about five kilograms walking around Japan on a past trip. She plans to start gentle yoga in November, beginning with 10 to 15 minutes. She also said her fear of needles has grown since COVID, that she plans to see a psychologist once she has saved enough, and that she may turn the visit into a video or mini vlog.
She said she would not stream the next day because she has recording and other tasks to catch up on. On the 31st she will hold another free talk and release a new cover song.
