DipperDog Beats Bloodborne’s Orphan of Kos on First Attempt, Hammer in Hand
The independent streamer spent the opening 18 minutes grinding a level of vitality, then took the boss down before the half-hour mark.
INDEPENDENT — DipperDog defeated the Orphan of Kos on her first attempt during a Bloodborne stream on Wednesday, finishing the fight about half an hour in with a hammer as her weapon. “This was the first try. It was always the first try,” she told chat afterward.
She had spent the first 18 minutes of the stream grinding, using the time to push her vitality from 38 to 39 on the theory that “that little hairline of health could make a big difference.” She said she planned to play seriously instead of joking around, and dedicated the run to a viewer who had been part of a batch of 10 gifted subscriptions earlier in the stream. After the kill she said she had been shaking by the end, and she described it as one of the hardest bosses in FromSoftware’s games.
“I told you I was going to take it seriously this time.” — DipperDog, after beating the Orphan of Kos
Chat had a penalty ready: a burpee and squat forfeit that she carried out on camera, ending with ten squats and the line that “the real big bad was chat all along.” A cutscene then raised the possibility that the boss she had just killed was not the true Orphan, which she said she expected to hurt her brain once she read the lore.
The rest of the evening went to side content. Viewers talked her through a hidden route down the side of the cathedral ward, which she tried by dropping into a hole on faith, and she then moved into the game’s chalice dungeons. She cleared several bosses with the hammer, picked up a non-player hunter as a companion she vowed to protect, put her points into strength, and admitted that she kept getting lost in the dungeons and would rather go straight to bosses.
DipperDog said she would continue Bloodborne on Friday, with a few more chalice dungeons before the final boss. She planned a Left 4 Dead session with friends on Saturday and more streaming on Sunday if nothing else came up.
