After Three Hours of Splatoon 3 Practice, Shinomiya Yuno’s Team Settles on “Earth-2434”

The name for the Niji Ika Matsuri 2026 team grew out of Kitami Yusei’s Spider-Man bit with a brush weapon.

Shinomiya Yuno, Hanabatake Chaika, Kitami Yusei and Sister Claire named their team “Earth-2434” at the end of a Splatoon 3 practice stream that ran just over three and a half hours. The name, sent in with a heart on each side, nods to the Spider-Man multiverse and came out of Kitami’s running joke of playing as Peter Parker. The group also quipped that what they have in common is having no home to return to, a reference to the film Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Yuno opened by explaining that the team for Niji Ika Matsuri 2026, a Splatoon 3 tournament event for Nijisanji talents, was himself, Chaika, Kitami and Claire, and that Claire might not be able to join. The three who could make it played private battles, or custom-lobby matches, with other talents who were practicing. Kurusu Natsume, who has her own team in the event, came in as a stand-in, took up the Wakaba Shooter Claire favors and joked that everyone should think of her as Claire. Kitami said he had only recently started the game and planned to keep throwing Booyah Balls, the game’s team-boosted special.

“I’d like to contribute as much as I can to Earth-2434’s win.” — Shinomiya Yuno, closing the stream

The group lined up practice matches against another team’s lobby, the first about half an hour in. Kitami traded through several weapons, then declared that for this once he would be Spider-Man. He introduced himself as Peter Parker with a brush weapon and took down several opposing players in a row, at which chat declared that he had awakened. Word came through that Claire would be joining later in the night.

With the group winding down, talk turned to the team name, which Kitami had said earlier the organizers had agreed to extend the deadline for. Kitami’s Spider-Man persona supplied “Earth-2434,” the group agreed on it, and a heart on each side was added after Claire’s request for one. The name was sent to the organizers.

Kitami said he would keep practicing off stream and ask Chaika for coaching. Yuno said he had been nervous before the stream even though he knew the others, but relaxed once they were talking, and that he had been surprised by how far his current weapon shoots. He said the team would meet again the next night, starting around 10 p.m. after he finished work.
