Tomyoji Kagura of ReAcT (aaArtists) returned to streaming on Monday with a karaoke session after about two weeks away, singing 15 songs over two hours and telling viewers she had never thought about quitting.

She opened with a song before greeting the audience, whom she calls worshippers at her shrine, and told them she was back. She said she had been nervous enough to shake during the first song. She said she could not explain the sudden break and had nothing more to say about it. After seeing speculation that she had been unwell or wanted to stop, she said the one thing she could state was that she had never once wanted to quit, and that she was enjoying herself and loved her viewers.

“I’ve never once thought about quitting, so please don’t worry.” — Tomyoji Kagura, on the break

Between songs she talked about a wisdom tooth removed on the 22nd of last month. She described the dentist breaking the tooth apart while she was awake, said she was still in pain two weeks later and could chew only on one side. The set included a song she was singing on stream for the first time, an idol song she said she had been listening to lately, and an English-language song, Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself.” She said her voice felt rusty after the time off, but the nerves faded as the stream went on.

She said she would appear at a live event the next day, which she called Kanafest, and that she would stream again Friday around 3 p.m. She said the frequency and content of her streams might change, with singing streams and cover songs at the center. Before signing off, she read out viewers’ Super Chats, seven in all.

Chat answered the opening with welcome-back messages, and viewers filled the stream with call-and-response cheers and virtual glow sticks during the songs.
