Ookami Mio’s Driving Lesson for Her Game Little Sister Ends in Lane-Change Chaos
Playing the calm older sister to save her sore throat, the Hololive streamer coached a voice-controlled driver named Mio 2 through cones, a collision and a burning car.
HOLOLIVE — Ookami Mio spent a Sunday-evening stream teaching a game character to drive, and the lesson fell apart once the car left the practice lot. By the end she told viewers that the first stretch had gone smoothly but that things became chaotic and she was no longer getting through.
Mio explained at the start that she had worn out her throat and did not want to raise her voice, so she would play a refined older sister. She built the younger sister’s character herself and settled on the name Mio 2 after rejecting several others. In the game, the driver acts on instructions spoken aloud while a key is held down, and she answers back in character.
“Little sister, I’m starting to lose confidence that I can teach you well.” — Ookami Mio, after another failed attempt to cross the road
The early cone course was the stronger part of the night. The sister was quick to protest when Mio’s calls came too suddenly, and she kept complaining that her heart could not take it, but she stopped in time and squeezed between the cones. Mio called it surprisingly good. Around the 22-minute mark the car clipped another vehicle, and she walked the sister back out. Once the lesson moved to the road, the trouble started: Mio struggled to give left and right turns quickly enough, a police car came flying in from an unexpected direction, and in one run the car caught fire. With the door stuck, Mio decided to floor it straight ahead.
The hardest part was crossing traffic. Mio said she could not give a lane-change instruction in time and that the sister seemed to have no concept of one. After one more failure she said she was losing confidence, and the sister snapped back that perhaps the teaching was the problem. She called a last challenge and tried once more, only to be caught up in a crash she had not caused.
Chat answered with laughs throughout and kept sending its usual emotes. Four Super Chats came in, one of which praised the early part of the lesson. Mio’s closing send-off was to floor the accelerator one last time, but the car barely left its spot, and chat joked that it had wanted an explosion.
