Shichihachi Putera Drops to Silver, Then Climbs Back to Gold in a Valorant Ranked Session
The Vebop Project streamer opened with two rank shields left, lost one match too many, and finished the three-hour stream with a win.
VEBOP PROJECT — Shichihachi Putera of Vebop Project, a new virtual streamer, spent a three-hour Valorant ranked stream on Sunday sliding from Gold to Silver and back again, and ended it with a win. By her own tally she finished the night 39 points up.
She began her first competitive session in nine days with two rank shields left, which cushion a player against demotion. Early on she said she wanted to win the opening match, and when a loss around the 40-minute mark used up her last shield, she said the next defeat would send her down to Silver. A later loss did, part of a losing streak she put at five matches. She said one win should be enough to climb back.
“I’m not going to take an ace like this.” — Shichihachi Putera, after taking an ace and then falling to her death
That win came in the third hour. She went to the bathroom after it and returned to read Super Chats, 22 paid messages in all, and said she felt lighter and sharper for the break. She was back in Gold, and said she did not expect to drop to Silver again soon.
The night was not without mishaps. Near the end she took an ace, then fell off the map and died. A viewer called it a “falling shot,” and a Super Chat suggested naming her airborne spray the “Downfall Shot.” She laughed it off, saying she had fallen twice and still finished with 10 assists. She also opened the stream by sending a viewer poll with no text by accident, and spent the first minutes trying to clear the notification. She also tried out the game’s newly added agent, Hash, whom she had said she wanted to meet.
After one more win she weighed a further match and decided against it, saying it is best to stop when something feels off. She said she would clip the highlights, as chat urged, and signed off. Viewers also congratulated her on three months since her debut, which she said had not sunk in.
