Shoto Says a Horror Game Showed Chat a Figure He Never Saw on His Own Screen
The independent Twitch streamer was playing Giggle Land, a mascot horror game, when it also took a screenshot of him without any input.
INDEPENDENT — Shoto, an independent streamer on Twitch, said the horror game he was playing on a Sunday Just Chatting stream appeared to show chat things that never reached his own screen. Viewers saw a character in the game that he said he did not see, and he said at first he thought chat was trolling him.
The game was Giggle Land, a mascot horror title set in an amusement park. As the scene played out, chat kept telling him the figure was right there, standing in a stall and visible in a mirror. Shoto described a closed door and a screen darker than what viewers were seeing, and said he saw the mirror break but nothing else. When he checked a clip afterward, he said he could not believe it. “I wish I could show you guys my POV,” he said, adding that it would make him look crazy.
“I was not messing with you. I thought you were messing with me.” — Shoto, after chat saw a figure he could not
Later in the game, he said it took a screenshot on its own. He said he had pressed nothing, then searched his computer and found the picture in his documents folder. “The game hacks your computer,” he said as he looked for it. Near the end of the stream, he said the game’s effects had reached all of his displays, and he said he was a little creeped out. Viewers speculated that the game sends different video feeds to the streamer and to the audience.
He had opened the stream by talking through internet emotes, saying the old-fashioned XD put him off while he tolerated the “:3” face, and then switched to the game. He also joked that he would like to hold a chat-versus-streamer memory contest on a human benchmark site one day.
Shoto said the stream, planned as a short one, ran long because he got absorbed in the game. He compared its fourth-wall tricks with Doki Doki Literature Club. He quit without finishing it and said he wanted to wrap it up on his next playthrough, either after a Wednesday stream or on another Sunday. He also mentioned a collaboration on Friday.
