Shoto Wraps Halloween Collab With Four Streamers, Calling the Game ‘Not It’

The independent Twitch streamer hosted Zy0xxx, Bettel, Caspurr and Vanta for Halloween the game, then pointed to a horror lineup for the weekend.

Shoto, an independent streamer on Twitch, ended a Halloween-night collaboration on Thursday by saying the game at its center, Halloween the game, was not a good fit for the group. Shoto said the group had expected something so bad it would be good, but that the matches felt more like escort missions than the tense chase the setup promised, and that being the killer or a survivor did not feel especially rewarding.

Joining Shoto for the collab were Zy0xxx, Bettel, Caspurr and Vanta. Shoto opened by saying the stream would get one try at most, expecting a learning curve in a game with one killer and four survivors, and chat greeted the announcement of the collab with cheers. Before the game, Shoto talked through the design of a new avatar, describing a process that starts with mood boards and ends with back-and-forth sessions with a character designer, and said creators who stay hands-off with their models were missing out. Later, Shoto asked chat whether anyone else could sense something was off about a person before knowing why, and described keeping distance from people on instinct. Viewers answered in agreement.

“Now you know Halloween the game was not it.” — Shoto, closing the stream

As the guests arrived on a Discord call with a spooky Halloween ringtone, Shoto bet on the order they would join, guessing Vanta first and then Caspurr, and the lobby was soon trading jokes about Steam icons and a made-up marriage for tax benefits. Another stretch turned to anime ships, with a debate over which characters from My Hero Academia belong together and a jab at Shoto sharing a name with Shoto Todoroki, followed by a suggestion that Shoto dress as the character for Halloween.

By the end, the group’s mood had turned. One voice called a closing game against other players more entertaining than the 119 minutes of Halloween the game before it, and the group, which landed in third place, celebrated. Another said they planned to refund the game right away, and Shoto said it simply may not be for them. The guests thanked Shoto for the invitation and signed off, with one offering to join again at any hour, and Escape the Backrooms came up as a possible future pick.

Shoto said a compilation of horror games, including smaller finds the streamer had collected, would air on Saturday morning, and that a Spooky Sunday stream was planned for November 1 if schedule allowed.
