Silvervale Finishes a Puzzle-Heavy Horror Game and Learns Apples Are Coated in Wax
The independent Twitch streamer praised the game’s scares but said its constant puzzles wore down a Halloween stream.
INDEPENDENT — Silvervale, an independent streamer on Twitch, spent a Halloween-themed Just Chatting stream working through a horror game whose final puzzles, the streamer said, ground the evening down. Mr. Giggles, the game’s pursuer, became what Silvervale called an archnemesis, and a late stretch of button sequences and lever hunts left the streamer saying they were losing their mind.
The streamer’s verdict on the game was split. Silvervale called the ambiance “sick” and the scares among the best they had seen, saying the game did unusual things to the computer itself and even staged a scare aimed at chat. The problem, Silvervale said, was the sheer number of puzzles, which were constant and not clear. In closing, the streamer said they liked the game more than the newer Poppy Playtime chapters, understood its mixed reviews, and thought it needed more direction and a shorter ending.
“Today I discovered that apples are covered in wax, which I was not aware of.” — Silvervale, while playing the horror game
Chat helped throughout. As Silvervale puzzled over where a box belonged, viewers repeatedly suggested putting it under the door, and a raid of 1,577 viewers from Vienna arrived in the middle of the problem.
Earlier, Silvervale opened the stream by talking about a vlog from Anime Expo that had come out on YouTube the day before, including a photo of Silvervale and a friend, Mira, that looked like “aura farming.” The streamer said TwitchCon was their first convention, that a new year of conventions was starting, and that they had not realized how much there was to life beyond staying home. Silvervale thanked viewers who travel to meet them and said they wished they could hug everyone.
The stream’s longest tangent came when Silvervale learned that grocery-store apples are coated in wax. The streamer wondered aloud whether anyone had ever eaten an uncoated apple, while chat explained that the wax is edible and that apples are washed before eating. Silvervale planned to eat one apple unwashed and one furiously scrubbed to see whether the wax could be tasted, and later joked about having eaten around 15 candles’ worth of apples in a lifetime.
Signing off, Silvervale said they would be back the next day and hoped viewers would not have nightmares about puzzles.
