Gabu Rieru Looks Back on Aogiri Highschool’s Eighth Anniversary and Her Solo Years
In a 74-minute zatsudan, or chat stream, she said she cried at the anniversary broadcast over the hardship of going it alone before joining the group.
AOGIRI HIGHSCHOOL — Gabu Rieru of Aogiri Highschool said Thursday that she had been moved to tears during the group’s eighth-anniversary broadcast, recalling how hard her years as an independent VTuber had been. Speaking on a 74-minute chat stream with a stuffy nose, she said she had never intended to cry on air.
She said that before joining the group she had worked alone, balancing part-time jobs with planning streams and writing scripts while wondering how to get her name known. She added that the experience made her feel how much it means to have others working beside her now, and that she wanted to repay the viewers and her fellow members. She also said that of the voice works she brought to the anniversary broadcast, only the nurse-themed one still exists on CD in her own hands, and that she had placed the rest in a time capsule.
“Sometimes it’s important to stop and stand still, so you don’t have to force yourself to push forward.” — Gabu Rieru, advising viewers near the end of the stream
Rieru said the anniversary has brought collaborations, including one with the Keio Dentetsu railway in which she is in charge of Kichijoji Station. She said she went on location in Kichijoji for a video that is still being edited, and that she hopes to release it while the campaign is running. She also described a recent trip to Disneyland with the other three members of D-gumi, her four-person group, during the Halloween season. She said they landed front-row seats for a stage show and watched the characters dance directly in front of them, and that the group posed for a photo with Donald Duck.
On other news, she said her computer would be replaced after repeated sudden shutdowns and storage filled by editing 4K location footage, which has delayed a planned video tour of her soundproof room. She also announced an offline stream for D-gumi on Thursday, Nov. 5.
She wrapped up after a little over an hour, saying she was not at full strength. In her closing words she urged viewers to look after their health as the year ended, and told them it was fine to feel low and not to blame themselves for it.
