Kumosuki Plays Eat-the-Chat on a Monday Talk Stream and Rejects Chat’s Cockroaches

The streamer opened wide for ordinary messages, shut up for anything that looked like poop, and complained when someone served up a cockroach.

Kumosuki, a SquareLive (Celestial) streamer, turned a Monday-night zatsudan, or chat stream, into a game in which they pretended to eat the messages scrolling past. Chat answered by sending food, insects and worse, and the streamer took it all in good humor.

The stream began with a complaint. Kumosuki said the weekend had been too plain, spent tidying, packing and organizing the home, with none of the concerts others had been to, and asked viewers to share something more satisfying. Chat obliged with a run of misfortunes and outings: one viewer wrote that an iron bucket had hit their temple at a factory the previous Thursday, another listed a crane chain, a falling object and a torn pair of trousers in the same week, and others described a concert, a weekend of tabletop gaming and the crowds in Kaohsiung. Kumosuki ruled that the injuries counted as wounds rather than anything exciting, and mentioned a Fujii Kaze concert in Kaohsiung that many viewers had talked about that weekend.

“Why is someone feeding me cockroaches? That has no standards.” — Kumosuki, during the eat-the-chat game

Later, Kumosuki told a story about selling a secondhand handheld game device online. The buyer began asking how to play it the moment the order went through, then moved on to questions about a different model the streamer had never played. Noticing that chat looked half-empty, Kumosuki then reopened a window on screen and decided it looked as though the streamer were eating the chat. The game followed: Kumosuki said they would open wide for ordinary messages and close their mouth for anything that looked like poop. Viewers sent poop, mosquitoes, cockroaches and plates of fried food in reply, and Kumosuki objected to the cockroaches in particular.

Another tangent came when Kumosuki recalled mistaking a trip by fellow streamers to Kaohsiung for a trip to the Fujii Kaze concert; the group was there for an event of its own. Chat joked that Kumosuki might hold a concert when Fujii Kaze next visited. Kumosuki also recalled an old part-time job at a department store counter, with kindly older coworkers who shared snacks, staff meals in the food court and one day without a single customer. The stream ended with Kumosuki saying good night.
