HOLOLIVE — Rindo Chihaya of Hololive’s FLOW GLOW unit revealed on Monday that the shoes of her 3D model have roller wheels that throw sparks when she moves, a feature she said she had never been able to show viewers before. She did it during a karaoke stream that was also her first outing with Raku (楽), a new app she was trying for the first time.
Much of the first 20 minutes went to the app itself. Chihaya worked through the screen size and output settings, then built her first custom camera, setting start and end positions and slowing the movement when it made her queasy. Several of her early angles ended up low or off her face. “Our karaoke stream has become a camera-building stream,” she joked, before settling on a final set and starting to sing.
“They’re usually retracted. They come out and spin, and when I move, sparks come out. When I don’t move, they don’t.” — Rindo Chihaya, showing her shoes
She said she had not planned a setlist and only wanted to test the app, and asked chat for requests. Camera motion stayed a problem: she stopped at one point because the view that follows her model while she runs made viewers dizzy, and later said she would keep looking for a setting that stops the camera from following. Around 40 minutes in, she showed the roller shoes up close. She said the wheels fold away until she moves, that the shoes have had the feature since her 3D debut, and that skating at her first-anniversary 3D showcase had been considered for a moment and dropped as too dangerous.
The later songs were quieter. She moved her model to a seat at the poolside, tried slower camera work for the more emotional numbers, and joked about trying out how it felt to drown in the water before climbing out. After announcing the final song, she closed with a farewell scene in which she tried to vanish from the screen and kept reappearing, to laughter in chat.
She told viewers the stream was her first time with Raku and that she would study it further to make future singing streams better. Chat filled with laughing emotes through the camera mishaps and the roller reveal, and the stream drew 37 Super Chats.
