Eepy Sleepy Plays Four Hours of Deus Ex, Ending in the Mole People’s Tunnels

PHASE CONNECT — Eepy Sleepy of Phase Connect spent about four hours on Wednesday with her first playthrough of Deus Ex, carrying the story from a smuggler’s apartment in Hell’s Kitchen to the underground settlement beneath Battery Park before she called it for the night.

The stream opened with roughly 40 minutes of chat. She said she was low on energy and had been busy testing VR and other projects for the coming days, then fielded questions about a female-character mod for the game’s hero, JC Denton, and joked about being reported to HR over a bathroom. From there the talk drifted to fast-food oddities, including a Sour Patch Kids chicken wing item that she said had launched the day before, and to a viral AI-generated video of a woman and a boulder on a glass bridge. She also watched a vintage commercial compilation before turning to the game.

“You cannot pay me to swim in New York. I’m going to get a disease.” — Eepy Sleepy, while spending upgrade points in Deus Ex

In Deus Ex she freed a smuggler’s friend from a secret lab in the sewers, then worked through an NSF-held warehouse in Hell’s Kitchen, where she dealt with rooftop snipers, guard dogs she said she did not want to hurt, and a generator she shut down before a helicopter took her back to UNATCO headquarters. Back at base she spent a long stretch reading emails, trying passwords, playing basketball with a robot and pestering a colleague at a door, and listened in on an interrogation of captured terrorists. She praised the game’s music, which she said sounded like Ace Attorney, and said she liked how characters talk past one another.

Her next mission dropped her in Battery Park, where she found the NSF had been using tunnels run by the so-called mole people. She helped the settlement’s leader restore its water by blowing a blockage with a grenade, which she obtained after knocking out a man a gang had wanted dead, and then got the keypad code into the occupied tunnels. She was clearing the tunnels when she stopped the stream. The stream drew five Super Chats, including an early Halloween greeting that she read aloud.

She said she would play on Thursday with a free stream and asked viewers to suggest games, possibly more Deus Ex. Friday brings an earlier stream for 3D, and Saturday a special stream. She also apologized for her low energy, saying she had been tired all week.
