Itoi Toi Meets a Teammate Using Her Old Name and Banner on Apex Legends’ New Season
The Neo-Porte streamer opened the season by reading patch notes, then won a match playing Crypto and set Diamond as her goal.
NEO-PORTE — Itoi Toi of Neo-Porte (2nd Generation “Quattro”) streamed Apex Legends for about four hours on Wednesday morning, Japan time, as the game’s new season got under way. The stream’s best-remembered scene came early, when she was matched with a teammate playing under the name and banner she herself had used in the game before.
She opened by reading the season’s patch notes aloud. Among the changes she read out were legend bans in matches of Diamond rank and above, where players vote on which legends to ban for each match, and a rework of Crypto’s drone, which now runs on a battery with a 25-second limit. She said the text was hard to read at length and that she would have to try the changes to understand them, then spent part of the stream learning Crypto, calling him difficult at first.
“I’m going for Diamond this season, seriously.” — Itoi Toi, on her goal for the new season
In the match, she noticed that a teammate carried the name Toi, which she said she used to play under, along with the same banner. She joked that she had met her doppelganger and that the player was an impostor, then talked herself into treating it as a coincidence. Later in the stream, playing Crypto, she won a match. “I don’t know why we won,” she said, adding that a win was a win, and her rank went up. She had hoped to reach Gold that day but fell short.
Between matches she talked about her year-end live. She said performing a live had been a dream since before she became a VTuber, that she practices singing and dancing almost every day, and that watching a senior member’s live had made her want a solo live of her own. She also named taking part in a major Apex tournament as another dream.
She ended the stream to head to work, saying that because bans start in Diamond, where Vantage and Crypto are popular picks, she planned to stay with them until then and aim for Diamond this season. She said tomorrow she would stream in the morning, with a collaboration planned for the evening at 18:00 or 19:00 at the earliest, and hinted that it was something she had wanted to do for a long time.
