Eris Suzukami, Jira Jisaki, Remia Aotsuki and Juno Umezono of VSPO! EN played Outlast Trials together on Tuesday, working through two campaign maps before taking on the game’s Halloween escape event. The event ended with their characters learning they had been the snitch, the informant players are sent to kill in the game’s first trial.

Suzukami opened her stream alone, talking with viewers about pizza, sleep and her plan to play Deadlock later. Once the others joined the call, the group chose the Resort map, which one participant called the scariest because enemies can appear from anywhere. They followed wires to find keys, carried gemstones to an auction, cranked winches together on a count of three and threw bricks at blindfolded paintings to read the numbers hidden behind them before leaving the map.

“We’re the ones being watched, but now we were watching where the watchers were watching from.” — Remia Aotsuki, after the escape event

Prison Farm, a newer map with attack dogs, came next. The group hunted pig heads outside a barn and carried them to a kitchen, solved a valve puzzle keyed to ranked-ladder tiers such as Bronze 3 and Emerald 2, and entered number codes found in prison cells. They revived one another with syringes and were knocked down repeatedly before the four reached the exit.

The escape event followed. After a decontamination sequence, the group moved through simulated versions of the game’s chapel, police and prison maps without their usual gear, gathering keys and batteries and crafting a lever. In a final room each had about 10 seconds to pick a symbol. Suzukami’s character woke in a trailer after escaping. A closing cutscene then revealed that the snitch they had hunted in the first trial was themselves, and they were told to make new characters. They said their upgrades carried over.

Aotsuki said she had never seen the game run a full escape like it and praised its developer, Red Barrels, for an ending that matched the beginning. Jisaki called the mode cool and fun and wondered whether the developers were winding down updates. The group planned to play Phasmophobia the next day. Jisaki said she would join if a mod allowed more than four players and that her next stream would otherwise be on the 30th. Aotsuki said she would send her viewers to Suzukami on Twitch and Umezono on YouTube, where the two were set to play Deadlock, and that VSPO! EN would keep streaming toward a Halloween event on Oct. 31.
