Kohaku Uru’s Laurel Regalia Next Closes LTK Regular Stage With Third Straight Win
The team, which also fields Astel Leda and URS Tooko, finished fourth and now heads to the in-person playoffs on Nov. 21 and 22.
ULTRALMTM — Laurel Regalia Next, the League of Legends team that includes Kohaku Uru, Astel Leda and URS Tooko, won its last regular-season match of the LTK tournament on Friday, beating DD for a third straight victory in the second half of the stage. The result did not change the team’s fourth-place standing, and it moves on to the in-person playoffs set for Nov. 21 and 22.
Kohaku Uru, who played the top lane, streamed the day for more than seven hours. She opened with a scrim, or practice match, which the group ran as a dress rehearsal for the real thing, then spent hours on a voice call with her teammates and coach Nesty, reviewing the scrim and sitting through the tournament’s broadcast of the other matches before their own turn. Astel Leda carried the same match on his own channel.
“I think we showed what fourth place can do. In the playoffs, we want to win everything.” — Kohaku Uru, in the post-match interview
Before the match, Kohaku Uru told the group that her heart hurt from nerves. In the draft the team settled on Leona and Malzahar, with Kohaku Uru taking Zaahen up top. The opposing side held the early initiative, and a dragon fight and a later teamfight went against Laurel Regalia Next. Midway through, a teammate’s connection dropped briefly, and the group paused to steady itself before it resumed. The team then went back to the plan it had practiced: stop matching the opponent’s moves, wait, take Baron, call everyone in and fight there. A teamfight around Baron went its way, and it pushed through to the opposing base to end the game.
In the interview that followed, Kohaku Uru said she thought the team had shown what fourth place could do, and that it wanted to win everything in the playoffs. She said Nesty had recommended Zaahen to her. She liked that the champion, like Aatrox, is a Darkin, and she was happy when it was strengthened in a patch after she started practicing it.
Astel Leda told the interviewer that the team had come together from separate backgrounds and that its bond was now strong. He said he had grown flustered midgame and began matching the opponent’s moves, and that the win came from returning to the plan of waiting at Baron and calling the team in. URS Tooko said scrims had taught her that a clean engage lets her teammates deal damage, and promised a stronger team and some hidden picks at the playoffs. Nesty said he would use the two weeks to make the team far stronger. One of the participants answered her interview in a baby voice, saying that all the winning and protection had turned her into a 38-year-old baby.
The group then watched Laurel Regalia Core, the organization’s other squad, play its final regular-season match, which it lost. Kohaku Uru signed off by saying she would watch the Masters match from her futon and would stream again the next day.
