Kaminaga Taiga Walks Viewers Through a Japanese Breakfast on His Morning Stream
The Nijisanji streamer showed six home-cooked items, including a persimmon and pork stir-fry and a dish he said he made himself.
NIJISANJI — Kaminaga Taiga of Nijisanji used his Friday morning stream to present a Japanese-style breakfast he had cooked that morning, explaining how each dish was made. The stream, the latest in his morning series, ran about an hour from early Friday, Oct. 23.
He opened by saying he had gotten up at 5 a.m. and was still sleepy, and he thanked viewers who had come to a concert the day before, in which he played violin. He said he had read viewers’ impressions overnight, and that the next date is Nov. 22, which he asked them to keep open.
“By the way, this persimmon and pork stir-fry is really good, so I want you to try it.” — Kaminaga Taiga, while describing his breakfast
The menu, as he read it out, included a plum rice ball, a stir-fry of sliced persimmon and pork belly, pork belly wrapped around thin strips of potato, a simmered pumpkin and ground meat dish, kinpira burdock and cut pear. He said the persimmon dish is seasoned only lightly with salt and pepper and gets its sweetness from the fruit. The potato rolls, seasoned with salt and pepper and eaten with ponzu, were cooked under plastic wrap in a microwave at 600 watts for about eight minutes. The pumpkin dish simmered over low heat for close to 30 minutes. He said the whole meal took a little under 40 minutes.
Partway through, he asked what viewers were eating, and read out answers ranging from rice balls and miso soup to coffee and fruit. Later he told them the black dish holding the kinpira was one he had made himself, with guidance, and said the color had been hard to get right. Chat was impressed, and the dish drew some of the busiest messages of the stream.
Toward the end he said tomorrow’s stream may be off, that a stream on Sunday night is planned, and that he intends to return with a morning stream on Monday, Oct. 26. He closed by wishing viewers a good day at school and at work.
