Yuragi Yura Sings 10 Songs the Day After Her Birthday to Test a Recovering Throat
The MillionProduction VTuber, coming back from a month-long cough, said 10 songs was about her limit and hopes to bring back Wednesday singing streams.
MILLIONPRODUCTION — Yuragi Yura, a VTuber with MillionProduction (NOVA), sang 10 songs on Wednesday in a singing stream she billed as rehab for her voice. She said she had been coughing for about a month after a cold, and that the cough had only recently settled.
She opened by thanking fans for the posts that followed her birthday on Nov. 3, saying the birthday hashtag was close to 8,000 posts. She then started singing, moving from “Nandemonaiya” to “Kaiju no Hanauta” and “Marigold.” With many viewers new since the birthday broadcast, she said she was choosing songs most people would know, and she later picked “Zankoku na Tenshi no Thesis” on that basis. She admitted to making plenty of mistakes in it. Her stream audio glitched for a moment as she tried to fix a delay after “Marigold.”
“My throat has actually recovered quite a bit already. Yay.” — Yuragi Yura, after the second song
Her voice held up for most of the set. She said after the ninth song, “Yoake to Hotaru,” that 10 songs might be the edge of what she could sing, and she noted that her voice went hoarse partway through that one. She closed with “Tada Koe Hitotsu,” a song she said she often sings on streams and has now released as a cover. Looking back at the end, she said her voice began to tire around the eighth song but seemed to be improving little by little.
Chat answered with long runs of applause, and viewers called her singing “so clear it’s beautiful” and “great singing, just the best.” The stream drew 19 Super Chats, which she read aloud after the last song.
She said she plans a Minecraft stream at about 8 p.m. on Thursday, and hopes to bring back her Wednesday singing streams. She also pointed viewers to her first original song, “Tsuki no Ukabu Umi,” which she said was close to 50,000 plays, and said her channel was nearing 300,000 subscribers, a mark she hopes to reach this month.
